You just read a blog about a guy who got struck by lightning while watching a soccer game in a thunderstorm, and you don't think that might be a reason not to play soccer in a thunderstorm? But, to answer your question, lightning strikes the highest, most conductive object available. Since soccer fields are generally open areas and wet people can conduct electricity with reasonable efficiency, you may be the target of a lightning bolt if you decide to play that day. Ergo, you shouldn't play soccer in a lightning storm because you have a greater than normal chance of getting blammoed by mother nature and her thousands of volts of pain. I hope this helps. Katie,
